Notes

Having been a space nut and fascinated by the moon since a little boy, this was easily one of my favorite projects to work on. Jame Newton Howard had written an amazing theme but was unable to do the film due to his busy schedule. I was honored to be suggested by James to Playtone and took his theme and my own and began writing.

During the writing process, I was invited several times to go with Mark Cowen to see the 3-D visual effects as they progressed. This was a fascinating process.

In August, 2005, we recorded a 90-piece orchestra in Seattle, and I was able to entice my longtime friend, Geoff Foster, to come over from London to record and mix the score. This also gave me my first experience at Skywalker Ranch, where the final mix took place. (I was slightly disappointed that there were no stormtroopers there.)

And then came the premiere in Washington D.C. at the Smithsonian Space Center. My family had the honor of meeting 4 of the men who walked on the moon. After this, I'm not sure how any star encounter will ever compare.
